Telehealth
Tlingit & Haida’s Community & Behavioral Services Healing Center offers telehealth appointments using Zoom for Health to connect with participants. Online appointments are a convenient way to fit seeing your Healer into your busy schedule and to keep a safe distance when you’re sick or not feeling well. Your Internet usage fees for telehealth are not covered by the Healing Center.

Benefits of Telehealth
- Convenience: You can access care from the comfort of your home and avoid travel time to an appointment. It also provides a safe alternative when you’re sick or not feeling well.
- Inclusivity: Offers support to communities with limited access to services.
- Scheduling: There are greater opportunities to schedule care when you most need it.
- Accessibility: If you have physical limitations, are in quarantine, are out of town, or are housebound for other reasons, you can still easily seek care.
- Outcomes: Research suggests telehealth can be as effective as in-person visits.
How Telehealth Works
Telehealth works similar to in-persons visits in that we will:
- Spend time getting to know each other and/or updating us on your wellness needs.
- Mutually agree on the focus of your care and which treatment options best meet your needs.
- Implement a plan for your wellness journey to enhance the quality of your life.
How to Prepare
If you’ve used FaceTime, Skype, or Zoom, your telehealth visit will be very much like that, except we’re using our time together for your care. Prior to your first appointment, one of our providers will contact you by phone with directions about “how to” log-on. A valid email address is necessary for the purpose of scheduling appointments.
- Participants need a computer, cell phone, or tablet with a camera that can be used for video conferencing. In preparation for your first telehealth appointment, be sure you’re using a device that is confidential and you have a private area for our time together.
- Prior to your appointment, log in and test your audio and video capabilities. We can discuss any technical issues or concerns prior to your appointment when our office team calls you.
