Groups, Classes & Events
Tlingit & Haida’s Community & Behavioral Services Healing Center offers unique groups to support you and/or your families healing journey. Our groups bring together participants who are going through or have gone through similar experiences and offer an opportunity to heal through each other. Joining a group provides a safe space to be with peers who share a common purpose and to help each other through challenges.

Group Therapy
Ha Shagóon – A Group for Women [“Everything we have ever been, everything we are right now, and everything we are going to become”]
Adult Women, Age 18+ | Facilitated Hybrid, Juneau and Zoom
This group is designed specifically. for women (18 and older) addressing trauma, learning coping skills, reinforcing self-care and healing through each other. Treatment methods may include Talking Circles, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Culture Heals platform and more.
Grief & Loss Group
Adults, Age 18+ | Facilitated In-person, Juneau
A skills-based group that assists participants with accepting their loss and coping with grief in a healthy way rather than avoiding it through maladaptive coping. Facilitator combines traditional Tlingit grieving practices with evidence-based Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT) to heal in a group setting while welcoming other cultural grieving practices such as Haida and Tsimshian cultures.
Talking Circles
Circle of Brothers
Adult Men, Age 18+ | Facilitated In-person and Virtually, Juneau and Zoom
A support group (Talking Circle) for men addressing and understanding emotions, managing stress & anxiety, parenting & relationship challenges, community feelings, coping strategies for grief and trauma and walking in sobriety. Circle of Brothers takes place Wednesdays 5:30 to 7:30 Alaska Time, with an in-person option available in Juneau and a Zoom option available nationally.
Substance Misuse
Rising Above | A kaaná yaax wugóot (Lingít) | Sáa kahláang (Xaad Kíl)
Adults, Age 18+ | Facilitated In-person, Juneau
SUBSTANCE USING BEHAVIORS & RECOVERY MAINTENANCE: Rising Above is a group designed for participants who use substances, including addressing behaviors and how the mind, body and spirit are affected. A special focus on exploring negatives consequences of various substances. This group will provide basic information about substance related issues. It will also address recovery maintenance including cognitive strategies and behavioral skills to help achieve positive and long-lasting changes.
Wellbriety Group: The 12-Steps
Adults, Age 18+ | Facilitated In-person, Juneau
Medicine Wheel and the 12 Steps was developed to provide teaching of the 12-step model through culturally appropriate practices. It is an approach that brings together the best of both worlds, the spirituality of a proven support group and the strength of Native principles such as the Cycle of Life and the Four Laws of Change.

CULTURALLY RESPONSIVE CRAFTING GROUP: For our Healing Spirit is a culturally responsive crafting group where participants can bring their projects to work on together in a safe and private space with others choosing to engage in culture to heal; support one another, build positive relationships, etc. Participants are referred to CBS Healing Center if they require additional support beyond what the group can offer.
Financial Wellness 101
Adults, Age 18+ | Facilitated In-person, Juneau
Financial Wellness 101 assists in enabling group members to realize their traditional values by learning financial skills that will help each person make informed financial decisions for themselves, their family, and their community. This group occurs monthly and is open to current CBS participants.

Women’s Healing Retreat
Let Me Take Your Hand is a women’s healing retreat intended to help women on their journey to wellness and provide an uninterrupted therapeutic space for intensive healing. Due to the sensitive nature of the retreat, space is limited. Travel, food, and lodging will be provided for all participants resided within Southeast Alaska.
Who: Tribal Citizen Women, Age 18+
What: Intensive healing retreat for Individuals who have experienced trauma.

Men’s Healing Gathering
Last year was the first ever T&H Men’s Healing Summit, made to help create space addressing unique issues faced by men, such as expressing emotions in a healthy way, understanding mental health and substance use issues and how to ask for support and recognizing we are not alone. Men sharing lived experience can make a measurable difference in our communities. Stay tuned for this year’s gathering and registration.

Camp Coho
Greif and Loss Camp
Camp Coho is a one-day grief and loss camp for children between the ages of 6-12 in partnership with the Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium’s Camp Coho model infused with Southeast Tribal Values and Traditions. This camp was originally designed for children who lost someone to cancer; later expanded to include children who lost a loved one to suicide or other tragic death.
